Biosketch

Christiane Lex is a professor in Paediatric Pneumology and Allergology and head of the “Allergy Center South of Lower Saxonia” at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), Germany. After medical school in Bonn, Strasbourg and Pittsburgh, she received her M.D. from Friedrich-Wilhelm-University, Bonn, Germany. She underwent clinical training at the Children’s University Hospital in Duesseldorf and spent a long-term-research fellowship of the European Respiratory Society at the National Heart and Lung Institute in London, UK. Her research focuses on noninvasive methods of evaluating airway inflammation in children and adolescents. She is an expert in paediatric lung function and head of the lung function group of the Society of Paediatric Pneumology of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She initiates and conducts translational and clinical studies with focus on asthma, in part in cooperation with other European researchers.
