Biosketch

Julia Schmidt is a clinical geneticist and researcher at the Institute of Human Genetics, University Medical Center Göttingen. Her research projects focus on congenital developmental disorders, with a special interest in premature aging syndromes. Dr. Schmidt is particularly interested in the identification of novel genetic causes and the functional characterization of complex biological mechanisms. She investigates the cellular mechanisms underlying rare syndromes using the huge spectrum of novel and fast evolving NGS-based technologies. Dr. Schmidt enjoys the interdisciplinary work in genetics combining clinical practice and research.
