Biosketch

Susanne Lutz is since her PhD work interested in mechanisms involved in cardiovascular diseases, with a special focus on G protein-mediated signaling in cardiac cells and mechanical and ligand-induced pathways leading to cardiac fibrosis. Important technologies of her group include the generation of engineered connective tissues made from primary human cardiac fibroblasts and their detailed mechanical analyses by ultimate tensile testing and rheometry. Beside understanding the underlying mechanisms of cardiac fibrosis, her goal is to establish a screening platform for potential anti-fibrotic drugs. Further, Susanne Lutz is heading the international Master program Cardiovascular Science at the UMG and is responsible for scientific training in the German Society of Pharmacology.
