Biosketch

Dr. rer. nat. Sabine Mihm is a professor of Experimental Medicine at the University Medical Center Goettingen (UMG), Germany. Educated in immunology and in virology at Bochum University, Heidelberg University and at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ Heidelberg) she took up a position at a clinical interface within the Department of Gastroenterology, where she conducted research on hepatitis C and where she also headed a virus diagnostics unit. She was awarded by a Marie Curie International Outgoing grant, funded by the European Commission. Under that scheme, she spent 2 years at a biotechnology company for cancer therapeutics in Sydney, Australia, and one return year back in Germany. Her current research is repository-based and focusses on the impact of individual genetic predispositions in interferon genes for cancer development and progression.
