Silke Cameron is chief physician of the department of Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine at the Clinic Hann. Münden, Germany, as well as representative medical director. She further leads a research group at the University Medicine Göttingen, department of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Oncology. Dr. Cameron studied Medicine, German Literature and History of Art (M.A.) at the RWTH Aachen and the LMU Munich. She received her Ph.D. in 1999. After her full approbation, she spent 2½ years (2000-2002) as Postdoctoral fellow (JSPS/Alexander-von-Humboldt Association) in Tokyo at the Oriental Medicine Research Center, Kitasato University; and at the Laboratory for Biochemistry and Biomedical Research, Keio University. From 2002-2010 she continued her medical training at the University Medicine Göttingen where she specialized in Internal Medicine in 2008 and in Gastroenterology in 2010. From 2010 to 2017, she worked as senior doctor at University Göttingen, Dept. of Gastroenterology, where she habilitated in 2015 on tumor microenvironment in GIST. She is managing Editor of ‚Digestion‘ since 2015. Her scientific interests are GIST, Tumor growth and microenvironment as well as Japanese Phytotherapy (Kampo). Her clinical interests focus on Gastrointestinal Oncology in diagnostics and therapy. She is major coordinator of clinical trials, and scientific advisor for several Journals focused on Gastroenterology and gastrointestinal Oncology. She is member / board member of the following Societies: AIO, DEGUM, DGVS, DIN-ISO-TC 249 (TCM), DKG, ISJKM, JSOM, GPT.
